​BASEBALL DRILLS- Decision Making

One of the most important baseball practice drills to work on is relay throws.  For this drill, players fill each position on the field. A runner stands on a base, and then the coach hits a ball.
Outfielders or basemen field the ball and then communicate where to throw the ball to tag the runner out. The catcher watches the play and yells out where best to send the ball to throw out the runner.
Young baseball players must learn how to use a cutoff man from the outfield. They must also learn how to communicate and listen to each other during a game scenario.

To improve throwing mechanics, you must start with the basics. In one of the simplest little league baseball practice drills, kids line up across from each other and throw the baseball back and forth.
Some of the most important things for a player to have is the ability to catch and throw.  You must build your arm strength for this.  
Strong armed catchers may fail to throw runners out due to errors in their footwork. It takes an athletic combination of quick feet, secure transfer, strong arm, and accurate aim to lead to a successful throwing catcher.

BASEBALL MECHANICS - Footwork

The most important part of a catcher’s footwork is consistency and the ability to throw to second base.
There are two ways to utilize proper footwork- the pivot and the jab step.
Pivot: As the ball approaches, the catcher pivots his right foot and throws to second base. A strong arm is required for this footwork.
Jab Step: This is used by many catchers in baseball. The catcher jab steps with his right foot to an area on the ground just below his chin at the center of his body. It is crucial to keep the catcher’s footwork confined to an imaginary circle around him. This enables short, compact footwork, which initiates quickness.
