Rugby Rules and Game Play

Custom Rugby Jerseys by Triton

Rugby is a game played with an oval ball by two teams of  either 13 or 15 players.  Rugby union and rugby league both arose from the form of soccer played at Rugby School in England.
According to legend, in 1823, William Webb Ellis, a student at Rugby School, violated the traditions of the time (that the ball could only be kicked forward) by picking up the ball and running with it in a game, thereby inventing rugby football.
Rugby is divided into two types: rugby league and rugby union. Rugby union is the version of the sport that will be played in the World Cup.
In an 80-minute competition, two teams compete to score more points than the other by using an oval ball. A team consists of 15 players.  Teams are separated into forwards, who are the bigger and stronger players who struggle for ball control, and backs, who are the faster and more agile players who generally score.

Rugby's History

This sport arrived in England in the nineteenth century, with the narrative going that the concept for this sport came from a football player named William Webb Ellis.  This innovative player held the ball in his hands and ran with it until he reached the bottom line.

Rugby Accessories

Rugby does not require a lot of equipment to play. The players must wear a rugby shirt (jersey), cleats and rugby shorts. Rugby shorts are made of a heavy cotton fabric.
Almost no protective gear is worn. Most players wear a mouthguard, while some wear a scrum hat, thin shoulder pads, and shin guards. The scrum cap is worn by scrum players (forwards) to protect their ears.
Custom Rugby Jerseys from Triton provide you with the ability to completely design your own rugby jersey.  Their high quality rugby jerseys will bring unity and legitimacy to your rugby team.  Triton also offers custom rugby socks and custom rugby shorts to complete your high quality sports apparel look!

Rugby Rules

Each 15-player team plays against the other team to take possession of the ball and advance towards the other team's goal-line.
Rugby is a "territory-seizing game," in which teams aim to extend their own territory by moving towards the opposition team's goal-line.  They can do this either by individual players carrying or kicking the ball, or through cooperation by passing, and rucking and mauling. If one side successfully carries the ball over the other team's goal-line and into the in-goal area, that team is given a "try" and earns points.
The two teams' players alternately attack and defend as they try to score tries, hurling themselves against each other and struggling for possession of the ball. A rugby match is divided into two halves, each running 40 minutes and separated by a 10-minute halftime break.
After the game, the animosity on the field is forgotten, with players from both sides socializing in a friendly atmosphere and discussing the game's highlights.

Rugby- Staying Safe

One of the most crucial guidelines to remember is to be fair, and play fairly! The goal of this guideline is to reduce injuries to a minimal amount.
Ignoring this guideline is looked at as a sign of cowardice. Playing unfairly or dirty has the potential to cause significant damage to you or other participants.
Foul play consists of blocking opponents punching, trampling, kicking, or tripping players tackling too early, too late, over the shoulders tackling a player in the air doing anything unfair or harmful.
